In this Holy Week leading up to Easter, amid the brutal war in Ukraine, is there anything more appropriate to discuss other than the Resurrection?
Easter is the commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. This resurrection established Jesus as the Son of God and is cited as proof that God will righteously judge the world. In the conversation we will discuss the meaning of religion as source of inspiration, encouragement, justice and righteousness in the hard times of war in Ukraine. What can resurrection and righteousness mean after Mariupol and Bucha?
We are honoured to have as our guests professor Anatoliy Babynskyi and professor Heleen Zorgdrager. Anatoliy Babynskyi has a PhD in Theology. He is senior research fellow at the Institute of Church history UCU, author of the “History of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in 90 mins”. Professor Babynskyi’s academic interests are the history of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in diaspora and inter-Church relations. Heleen Zordrager teaches systematic theology and genderstudies at the Protestant Theological University in Amsterdam. She is a visiting professor to the Institute of Ecumenical Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. Her current areas of research are theology, gender, sexuality and public theology from a feminist perspective, e.g. the Maidan and post-Maidan events in Ukraine.
